Michael Taylor is the co-founder and Managing Editor of The Australian Independent Media Network (AIMN), which he established with Carol Taylor in January 2013. As at 4 December 2025, he brings more than a decade of experience overseeing an independent platform for citizen writers and public-interest commentary. A retired public servant, he holds qualifications in Aboriginal Affairs Administration, Aboriginal Studies and government. His interests include Australian and international politics, history and Indigenous Australia, subjects that inform his writing and his involvement in discussions about Australia’s political and social life.
Through AIMN, Taylor provides a space for contributors and readers to examine current affairs, environmental issues, history and social justice. The platform combines analysis and opinion with reader discussion, giving people an opportunity to contribute to debates beyond traditional media outlets. For this Reddit AMA, he joins the community to answer questions about running an independent publication, working with contributors, and the role of smaller media platforms in Australian public debate.
