From 2019 to 2022, Advance Institute of Business General Manager Craig Hill served on the National Executive of the Australian Democrats political party. From 2019 to 2021 he was National Vice President, and from 2021 to 2022 he was National Treasurer.
During this time he wrote policy, wrote media releases, organised interviews for candidates, served on policy committees and introduced cloud computing to the organisation to replace the old spreadsheet system.
A national database was established containing the names of over 20,000 former members, all federal members of parliament and senators, and all the city and regional newspaper editors in Australia.
The party was saved from a second deregistration with the Australian Electoral Commission by increasing membership by 1300 in just three weeks, from 600 to 1900, using the AI aspects of Facebook advertising.
The party, having only been registered nationally in 2019, began a campaign to seek registration in every state and territory, a project which continues today.
Approaches were made to Australian music legend Allan Caswell which resulted in the recording of a promotional song for the Australian Democrats. This was to be used for television, radio and social media advertising.
The Australian Democrats once again featured in newspapers and on radio across the country. Social media following also increased rapidly.
Successful approaches were made to corporations, businesses and individuals for donations, which led to financial stability for the Australian Democrats.
While the party was struggling in 2019, today it has re-emerged as a serious contender in Australian politics, having run federal candidates in every mainland state at the 2022 federal election, and federal and state candidates in a number of local seats since then.
