In 2019, Advance Institute of Business took on a two week contract, in partnership with Registered Training Provider BSI Learning, to teach prisoners at Townsville Correctional Centre in North Queensland. This was done on a week’s notice to fill in for a BSI teacher who had left with no notice.
The job involved getting a security clearance from Queensland Corrective Services and teaching literacy and numeracy to prisoners. These were from the Certificate I and Certificate II in Foundation Skills.
This was part of Queensland Corrective Services long running program to teach prisoners skills which could help them gain meaningful employment upon their release, with a view that it would lessen the chances that they would reoffend.
This was one of a series of contracts that Advance Institute of Business have undertaken for state and federal government agancies around Australia.
